Paul O'Connell set for Six Nations comeback - as a TV pundit
After a substitute appearance last season, Paul O'Connell is set to become a regular starter in the Six Nations punditry team in 2017.
The BBC have announced that the Ireland legend will join the likes of Keith Wood and Jeremy Guscott in breaking down the action in the upcoming tournament. O'Connell was a guest pundit for Ireland's narrow loss to France in Paris last year, but will be a more permanent fixture on our screens over the coming months.
“The Six Nations is a tournament incredibly close to my heart and I’m delighted to be joining the BBC team,” he said in a statement.
“It’s a very different experience now watching on from the side-lines but I’m really looking forward to drawing on my own experiences to give the audience as much insight as I can into the action on the pitch.”
Ireland open their Six Nations campaign away to Scotland on February 4.
