GAVIN HENSON'S latest off-field troubles elicited less outraged denouncements than rolled eyes as people's weariness at the antics of Welsh rugby's most renowned popinjay came to the fore.

Rugby union has had its share of alcohol-fuelled scandal over the years and it is not hard to select a team to have made headlines for the wrong reasons.

15 Danny Cipriani (Henson-like tale of drunken buffoonery and unfulfilled talent).

14 Chris Ashton (part of England's infamous dwarf-throwing excursion and accused of harassing a hotel employee).

13 Gavin Henson (has consistently courted controversy, career now looks irretrievable).

12 Mathieu Bastareaud (claimed he was mugged in New Zealand after injuring himself by drunkenly tripping over a table).

11 Wendell Sailor (several drink-related incidents plus a suspension for cocaine use).

10 Quade Cooper (fined for nightclub abuse and taxi cab vandalism and also had to see off accusations of burglary).

9 Danny Care (lost his England place due to alcohol-related antics).

1 Matt Stevens (banned for two years after testing positive for cocaine).

2 Andrew Hore (convicted and fined for shooting and killing a protected fur seal).

3 Keith Murdoch (All Black who was sent home for assaulting a Welsh bouncer and became a recluse in the Aussie outback).

4 Willie Anderson (fell foul of Argentinian authorities after 'boys on tour' flag incident).

5 Justin Harrison (accused of racial slurs in 2005 and later involved in Bath cocaine scandal).

6 Andy Powell (will always be remembered for his drunken golf cart joy ride).

7 John Jeffrey (suspended after kicking Calcutta Cup down an Edinburgh street in 1988).

8 Marc Cecillon (found guilty of murdering his wife after drunken argument).
