Headon's try epitomises St Michael's gritty display

St Michael's Col 17 Terenure College 6

The St Michael's College Juniors refused to go the way of their Seniors in a worthy display of grit against Terenure College at Donnybrook yesterday.

After 'Nure' centre Dylan Olin kicked the opening points in the fifth minute one slip of the hand gave St Michael's a scrum with the advantage to play on and how they profited as left wing Jack Redmond latched onto a kick ahead from Lucas McGrath to dive over in the corner.

It was 5-3 to St Michael's completely against the run of play in the 17th minute. That didn't bother Olin who kicked 'Nure back to the lead in the 24th minute.

When 'Nure eight Adam Clarkin slammed Jamie Headon to the ground in an ugly tackle, St Michael's were given the penalty. Out-half Lucas McGrath went for touch and Headon took his revenge in the best possible manner by lunging at the line in the 46th minute and centre Patrick Cleary sealed it with an interception in time added on.
