Harrington completes St Munchin's dramatic fightback
St Munchin's 23 Ardscoil Ris 21
Tom Harrington finished off a move worthy of winning any game to gave St Munchin’s a dramatic come-from-behind victory against local rivals Ardscoil Ris at The Grove.
Ardscoil must have thought they were in for a comfortable afternoon when they raced into a 14-point lead inside as many minutes.
Glen Clancy had an early try to settle the nerves which skipper Craig Casey converted.
They doubled the score with out-half Darragh O’Gorman racing through the cover to touch down, and this time Maurice Noonan added the extras.
Scrum-half and captain Evan Maher brought St Munchin’s back in contention with a try that Killian Markham converted.
Luke Clohessy had a third try for Ardscoil, with Noonan converting, to make it 21-7.
However, three penalties from Markham reduced the deficit to 21-16 and the late try by substitute Harrington, under the posts, allowed Markham to land the crucial conversion to earn a home quarter final place.
