Former Connacht utility back Rory Parata has signed a contract with Michael Bradley's Zebre until June 2018.

The 23-year old, who was born in Sydney, has previously represented Ireland at U-19 level and made 18 appearances for Connacht in a two-year spell before he was released last summer.

Parata was highly rated at schools level and was instrumental in Rockwell College reaching the 2013 Munster Schools Senior Cup final.

Parata can play across the backline and he will hope to reignite his career in Parma alongside ex-Connacht team-mate Ciaran Gaffney, who was also snapped up by Bradley.

"Zebre have an attractive style of rugby, one I like very much," Parata said.

"I want to help the team earn wins in the PRO14.

"I am a player who loves to run with the ball and can cover different roles in the backline.

"Personally, I am keen to learn the Italian culture and am also happy to play alongside Ciaran Gaffney again, with whom I played for many years in Ireland."
