Botha cleared of headbutting
MUNSTER prop BJ Botha has been cleared of headbutting Ospreys hooker Richard Hibbard in the sides' Pro12 encounter on October 8.
The Springbok was cited by the independent citing commissioner after an incident in the Thomond Park clash, which the Welsh side won 17-13, but at a disciplinary hearing, the committee could not be satisfied that the citing complaint could be upheld.
The Ospreys didn't escape the commissioner's eye, however, as flanker Justin Tipuric was hit with a three-week ban for a 'tip' tackle in the same game.
He was shown a yellow card on the night, but the disciplinary committee ruled that the offence was worthy of a red card.
The committee considered it to be on the low end of the International Rugby Board's scale of offending and also recognised the player's "helpful attitude" and his withdrawal from last weekend's Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Exeter Chiefs. He will only miss one Pro12 game -- against Glasgow next week -- as the league is currently on a break.
Meanwhile, Wales centre Gavin Henson has signed for Cardiff Blues after impressing during the team's recent training camp in Poland.
