good day for...

Stamped his passport to New Zealand with another competent display, ending a hat-trick of excellent international displays -- he finished the Six Nations in style -- with a fine all-round performance. Will challenge for a starting berth against England and opening two World Cup games.

Paul O'Connell

Spoke last week of how fit and ready he was for action at a leaner and meaner fighting weight -- boy how it showed. Oozed class and menace when he emerged and his duet with Ronan O'Gara almost brought Ireland home with rare win.

Conor Murray

If the proverbial Martian had been invited to witness both of Ireland's warm-up matches, he or she would have been hard-pressed to distinguish between the Heineken Cup and Grand Slam winners and the supposedly cowed debutant. Murray displayed real class -- but has Kidney already made his decision?

Jamie Heaslip

When the clarion call came, Heaslip answered with intimidating impact. Thundered into the cumbersome Skrela in a pivotal moment which announced Ireland's reiteration of intent as they staged second-half fightback. Seems primed to peak at World Cup.

Ronan O'Gara

Masterful performance, particularly in the second half, ensures that the enduring Munster man will keep snapping at Jonny Sexton's heels throughout the month of September, which will suit both men and their coach just perfectly.
