Former Leinster back rower Dominic Ryan has been sidelined for 12 weeks as he recovers from repeated concussions.

The 27-year-old, now playing with the Leicester Tigers, received a head injury during the 24-11 defeat by Northampton on September 9 as he made a cover tackle on George North.

However, following an assessment from two Tigers medics with referee JP Doyle in close attendance, Ryan joined the subsequent scrum and completed the match and has played two games since then, but will not now be considered for selection.

Leicester were heavily criticised for their handling of the incident last month.
