Flawless Lyons has Crescent on course to end title drought

Crescent College's hopes of ending a 19-year wait for a title remain on course after they saw off Cork's PBC at Musgrave Park.

Last triumphant in 1994 – against PBC – and defeated finalists to the same opposition the following year, Limerick's Crescent led throughout.

At half-time they led 11-0, as two penalties from out-half Gearoid Lyons were followed by a try from James Frawley just before the break, with Lyons converting. Pres were thrown a lifeline 11 minutes after the restart as second-row Conor Casey got the hosts on the scoresheet and John Poland's ensuing conversion closed the gap to four points.

But Crescent centre JJ O'Neill got his side's third try with 15 minutes remaining, the flawless Lyons adding the extras.

Though Pres captain Max Abbott gave his side some hope with a try, it was too little too late.
