Ex-Leicester Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill joins Toulon until the end of the season
Former Leicester Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill has joined three-time European champions Toulon as a consultant until the end of the season, the team has announced.
Cockerill was relieved of his duties earlier this week after a stuttering first half to the season, which saw Leicester lose 38-0 to Munster at Thomond Park in December. The former England international took over at Leicester in 2009, leading the side to three Premiership crowns and a Heineken Cup final, where they lost to Leinster.
Toulon, who themselves had some behind the scenes turmoil earlier this season when they sacked head coach Diego Dominguez, announced this evening that Cockerill will join Mike Ford's coaching staff for the remainder of the season.
It has been a very short break for Cockerill, with the coach taking up a new role just four days after leaving Leicester.
