Donal Og Cusack and Gareth Thomas issue emphatic responses after rugby star voices opposition to same-sex marriage
Two prominent gay sportsmen have sent spiky replies to Israel Folau after the Australian rugby star tweeted his opposition to same-sex marriage.
A postal survey on gay marriage is to be held between September and November in Australia, and while the Wallabies team are supporting the Yes side, Folau - a devout Christian - isn't in favour of it.
"I love and respect all people for who they are and their opinions, but personally, I will not support gay marriage," he said on his Twitter account.
Folau has since been criticised by many people for his stance, including both Gareth Thomas and Donal Og Cusack.
Thomas used a distinctive emoji to describe his feelings towards the fullback while the All-Ireland-winning hurler crafted a short statement that included a cheeky dig at the end.
