Deverell breaks Boyne hearts

Tullamore dashed Boyne's three-in-a-row hopes to seal their place in the final after a thrilling win in a sun-drenched Mullingar yesterday.

Tullamore began the game well and were leading by 9-6 until first-half stoppage-time when Boyne's Adam Sherrard broke a couple of tackles on the wing and slipped in South African Nico Vorster for a converted try.

Boyne were leading by 13-9 just after the hour when, to their immense credit, Tullamore found a way back into the match courtesy of Aaron Deverell's lovely block on Sherrard inside the Boyne 22.

Deverell raced through to touch down and John Moloney sent over the conversion.

In the final minute of normal-time Moloney held his nerve to slot over a tricky 40m penalty to seal the win.
