Crescent and CBC set for rematch after defences prove unbreachable

Crescent and CBC must meet again next week to decide who will play Rockwell in the final after they played out a tense draw at Tom Clifford Park.

The early exchanges were error-strewn, with the rainy weather and greasy playing surface causing both sides to cough up possession.

Crescent out-half Gearoid Lyons got his side off the mark with a superb kick from the right touchline after 10 minutes, but CBC were back on level terms seven minutes later through Tomas Quinlan.

With out-half Lyons finding the touchline at will with lengthy kicks from defence, Crescent had a platform to earn a second attempt at goal, but this time Lyons' kick drifted wide.

But Crescent's attacks were few and far between, and with the benefit of a dominant scrum and maul, CBC had a chance of their own to nudge in front. Quinlan's effort, however, also failed to split the posts.

CBC's territorial dominance continued in the second half, but the Crescent defence remained unbreakable.

It became clear that a winning score would only come from the boot, but both Lyons and Quinlan missed kicks, ensuring a replay in Cork would be needed.
