Youth policy bearing fruit for Sligo women

It's hard to believe Sligo senior women are going into their sixth season, youth girls their third and the juvenile girls their second.

Women's Rugby has really gone from strength to strength in recent times in the club.

Last weekend saw the juvenile girls put on a great display versus Claremorris at home and the U-18 girls travelled to Westport RFC for their first blitz, playing Galwegians, Westport and Ballinasloe.

They won one game, lost one and drew one.

All groups are constantly recruiting, so anyone who has an interest in playing at any age group please get in touch by contacting Lisa on 086-1607033 or lisaj_moore@yahoo.co.uk or message Sligo Rugby on the Facebook page. Beginners are always welcome.

This season also saw the senior women beat Tuam RFC, who were unbeaten in this year's Connacht league campaign. We remain unbeaten versus Tuam. Old rivalries never die.

The U-18s face their Connacht league and cup campaign over the next few months.

There is serious talent throughout the youth and juvenile teams.

This is a major boost to the current senior women's players and will secure the future of the senior panel in seasons to come.
