Video: Former Connacht star turned professional trainer is keeping Rio Ferdinand fit
Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand has enlisted the help of an Irishman to keep him trim in his retirement.
Ferdinand, who is currently working as a pundit on BT Sport, is staying fit under the watchful eye of Longford-born Mel Deane.
Deane's rugby career was book-ended by two stints with Connacht but he also played with the Sale Sharks and Harlequins.
He won a European Challenge Cup with the Sharks in 2002 and with Quins two years later. He is now a professional fitness consultant in South West London
Ferdinand tweeted a video of an intense burpee session Dean had allocated to him.
