Tiernan O'Halloran has come on leaps and bounds this season, and he's one of the main reasons Connacht are doing so well.

I've always rated him highly, and he has had bags of potential since he entered the Connacht ranks while I was still there. He was brought in so young, and now he's reaping the rewards, because he's learned from his mistakes early on his career.

It's amazing to think he's still only 24 - it feels like he's been around for ever - but he typifies what Connacht are about this season. In the last two games, in particular, they showed this unprecedented level of maturity, and ability to close out games.

And it was against Edinburgh and Ospreys, they are two top-class teams, but Tiernan has led from the back.

He has no problem barking out the orders because he is respected really well, and he even had the presence of mind to mention his team-mates in the post-match interview the last day.

Tiernan deserved man of the match, because he took his try well and showed his full skill-set in that 80 minutes.

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he's involved in the Irish set-up later in the season.
