It has been the worst possible return to the Top 14 for USA Perpignan with nine straight defeats for the former French powerhouse, and they'll hope to break that unwanted winless record tomorrow when they host champions Castres at Stade Aimé Giral.

In two weeks' time they come to the Sportsground for the first of the double-header Challenge Cup games between the teams in successive weeks, but a change in fortune will be needed if they are to be in with a chance of the win.

Four wins and a draw from their nine games has Bordeaux Begles in a far better position in the league, and they face Connacht in the final pool game of their Challenge Cup campaign. This weekend they return to action against Toulon at Stade Chaban-Delmas.

The English Premiership has already returned following their November break, and runaway Pool 3 leaders Sale Sharks were not shamed in their 31-25 loss away to Saracens. Six Robert du Preez penalties kept them in touch, but they struggled to break down the Saracens defence.

This weekend Sharks welcome Northampton Saints to the AJ Bell Stadium.
