Provincial volunteers feted at Sportsground
Connacht Rugby hosted volunteers from across the province at a pre-match event before the Guinness Pro12 match between Connacht and Glasgow last Saturday.
Each of Connacht's clubs and schools were asked to nominate their most deserving volunteer and they were invited, along with a guest, to attend the function and match compliments of Connacht Rugby.
The lunchtime event was a great success with more than 50 volunteers enjoying some light refreshments before being treated to an impromptu visit from Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt.
Domestic rugby manager Eric Elwood hosted the pre-match function and had this to say about the day:
"The club and community game in Connacht is very grateful for the contribution of all our volunteers and we are delighted to be able to give a little back to the volunteers who have given so much to the club and school game over the course of the season. It's great to see so many passionate people doing such good work across the province and this day was a token of our appreciation for their hard work. We look forward to your continued support and building stronger relationships in the coming seasons."
