The university playing fields in Dangan were witness to a momentous battle last Saturday as a team of former players took on the current crop in a classic past v present match.

The College team of 2005, led by Limerick native Jeff Neville, were able to call on players from a wide variety of backgrounds and players came from as far as Aberdeen and London, as well as across the country in a 10-year reunion that no one will forget.

The current team were equally primed for the match and eager to prove their ability against players they had only heard stories about, the side led by flanker Josh Dunne.

The old boys took the lead, but the current Connacht J1C champions responded and the game opened up into a free flowing contest which pitted youthful exuberance and silky skills against dogged determination and a decade of experience.
