Mixed fortunes for Connacht's opposition in Challenge Cup
Bordeaux-Begles, who Connacht host on the opening weekend of the Challenge Cup, continued their mixed start to the Top 14 when they drew 9-9 with last year's runners-up Montpellier.
The draw at home leaves Bordeaux-Begles in eighth place after a win, a draw and a loss in their opening three games.
They will hope to improve on that start when they travel to one of the relegation favourites Agen this weekend.
Another of the relegation favourites, Paddy Jackson's Perpignan, are unlikely to have much interest in the Challenge Cup this season.
The newly promoted side fell to their third successive defeat - and second at home - when they went down 22-16 to Lyon, with Jackson (above) kicking eleven points for the Catalan club.
Sale Sharks got their first win of the Premiership when former Connacht out-half AJ MacGinty kicked eleven points in a 21-15 home win over Worcester.
It leaves Sale, who Connacht travel to in the second round, in ninth place but they face a daunting test this weekend away to an Exeter Chiefs side who have ten points in the bag after two rounds.
