Connacht set sights on 'alternative signing' after confirming that Eroni Vasiteri move won't happen
Fijian centre Eroni Vasiteri will not be moving to Connacht.
Vasiteri, who had been expected to join on a one-year deal, was suspended for nine weeks following an eye-gouging incident with Canberra Viking's hooker Folau Fainga'a in the National Rugby Championship on September 29.
Connacht and Vasiteri have agreed that the move should not go ahead in light of the ban.
A statement released by Connacht today read: "Connacht Rugby can confirm that following discussions with Eroni Vasiteri it has been agreed by both parties that Vasiteri’s planned move to Connacht will not now proceed.
"Due to a recent suspension Vasiteri would not have been in a position to proceed with the move until later in the season.
"Connacht Rugby wishes Eroni Vasiteri every success in his future career and hope to make an announcement on an alternative signing shortly."
