Buccs host open day
Buccaneers kick off their Ulster Bank League Division 1B campaign at home to nine-time champions Shannon tomorrow.
With the match being part of the club's open day, a bumper crowd is expected at Dubarry Park.
Under new head coach Brett Wilkinson, the Pirates have made an exhilarating start to the season, comprehensively winning the Connacht Senior League title on the back of some sparkling rugby in which they scored 177 points including 26 tries.
An all-South African coaching trio of Wilkinson, Danie Poolman and Darin Claasen have had a good look at the players under their command, giving game time to all those available.
The players responded with some enterprising play and huge commitment as they capitalised on the hard work put in pre-season.
Tomorrow promises to be a hectic day. There will be bouncy castles, face-painting and various fun games for our younger members and a great family day is assured.
Opening of the refurbished facility in the Lower Deck will be the highlight of the activities.
There will a club shop where replica gear can be ordered. Members and supporters will have a chance to meet the Buccs players and registration will also be taking place.
All events get under way after Youths and Minis training at 12.30. This will be followed by Buccaneers' game against Shannon at 2.30. Admission is free.
