Bristol-bound McPhillips will be a big loss
As with Dan McFarland leaving for Glasgow Warriors in 2015, backs coach Conor McPhillips will be a huge loss to Connacht, writes Johnny O'Connor.
Conor has done a great job at the Sportsground, and he's a part of the furniture at this stage having played with Connacht for so long, and then gone into analysis and coaching subsequently.
He was a great backs coach too; from knowing Conor as a team-mate in the past he was a stickler for detail and I can see why Pat Lam wanted him to join Bristol.
On the flip-side of it you can't forget the brilliant head coach that Connacht have coming in. And Kieran Keane has been running the Chiefs attack in Super Rugby this season - make it your business to watch them play, it's exciting stuff.
It is sad to lose one of our own. But that's part of the sport and you have to wish Conor well in England.
When you have someone of Keane's calibre coming in, then that's definitely a good safety net to have, and hopefully he can improve on what Conor on has done at Connacht, since Andre Bell departed last season.
But good luck to Conor, I hope he does well for himself at Bristol, and I have no doubt they will improve massively under his tutelage.
