Best wishes to Robbie on his RDS switch
It's finally over, the worst-kept secret is out, and Robbie Henshaw is on his way to Leinster for three years. I wish him the best and life will go on without him, writes Johnny O'Connor.
I can't stand to see the spiteful comments circulating about him. Robbie was making a decision about his career and it's completely up to him whether he stays or goes, or where he goes.
The career of a rugby player is so short, and it's terrible to think that some people would wish ill on the guy just because he chose to play for a different province.
I remember when I left Connacht a few years back, although different times to now, it was one of the best decisions for my rugby at the time. And that had nothing to do with the province. I loved Connacht and everything about it, the staff and players were all great, the fans too.
I just wanted to leave to experience something different. Some players want to do likewise, and others don't. But if someone decides their career would be best suited elsewhere then they owe it to themselves to take that option.
I hope he does well with Leinster, obviously not when they come to the Sportsground, but that's the end of it now.
