Munster handed tricky Champions Cup opener

Leinster found it difficult at the Stade Pierre Antoine in their pool meeting with Top14 side Castres last season and Munster will know that there is very little margin for error as they look to hit the ground running. Photo: Stephen McCarthy/Sportsfile

Munster have been handed a tricky opening Champions Cup assignment as they must travel to Castres.

Leinster found it difficult at the Stade Pierre Antoine in their pool meeting with the Top14 side last season and Munster will know that there is very little margin for error as they look to hit the ground running.

Beaten in the semi-final last season, Leinster will have home comforts as they host Montpellier in their opener. The previous evening, Ulster kick off the tournament at home versus Wasps.

Like Munster and Leinster, Connacht will begin their European adventure, albeit in the Challenge Cup, against French opposition in Oyonnax.
