LEINSTER will kick off their defence of the Heineken Cup against English newcomers Exeter Chiefs at the RDS on Saturday, October 13.

Tournament organisers ERC yesterday confirmed the dates, times and live television coverage for the first four rounds of pool matches.

The holders' bid for an unprecedented three-in-a-row continues against the Scarlets a week later and will see them resume their rivalry with Clermont Auvergne before Christmas, with the home leg of their mouthwatering back-to-back clashes being staged at Lansdowne Road on Saturday, December 15.

Munster kick off in Paris against Racing Metro on October 13, while Connacht have a gilt-edged chance to build momentum away to new Italian franchise Zebre on the opening Saturday. Ulster get under way on Friday, October 12 at home to Castres at Ravenhill.

The pool stages will see Belgium become the 10th country to host a Heineken Cup match after Saracens moved their home clash with Racing Metro on October 20 to the 50,000 capacity King Baudouin stadium in Brussels.
