Flood sinks Viadana

Richard Cockerill warned that Leicester have to win at Ospreys next week to keep their Heineken Cup quarter-final ambitions alive.

And Cockerill admitted that Lions flanker Tom Croft will be out for five weeks, having suffered another injury to his left knee that kept him out for six weeks earlier in the season.

Croft was helped off after 27 minutes of his side's win over Viadana having damaged his medial ligaments, and rugby director Cockerill, said: "It's a blow for the lad to injure the same knee, and while England manager Martin Johnson might be concerned about Tom's Six Nations situation, my only concern is that we won't have him in Swansea next weekend."

When Leicester were awarded their first penalty, Toby Flood opted to kick for touch. The lineout was won and, three phases later, Dan Hipkiss swept through two defenders for a sixth-minute opening try. Flood kicked the conversion from wide on the right. Scott Hamilton's two tries were added by Dan Hipkiss, Toby Flood and Ben Woods -- with Flood converting the lot.

Viadana battled hard after the break, scored a breakaway try after 54 minutes and kept Leicester out for a full 30 minutes before Hipkiss scored his second try of the afternoon and Aaron Mauger wrapped things up.
