Earls facing six weeks out

MUNSTER star Keith Earls will be out for between four to six weeks after picking up a knee injury in last Friday night's Pro 12 defeat to Leinster.

Earls was helped from the field after the opening exchanges at Lansdowne Road and a scan yesterday confirmed that the Limerick man had suffered medial ligament damage.

The 24-year-old will miss Munster's opening two rounds of the Heineken Cup. The province host Northampton at Thomond Park on Saturday before they travel to France to take on Castres the following weekend.

However, he could return in time for the back-to-back Pool One matches against the Llanelli Scarlets in mid-December.
