Cup double set for Dublin
Tournament organisers have announced that both showpiece European club finals will be held in Dublin next year. The Aviva Stadium will host the 2013 Heineken Cup final on May 18, with the RDS staging next season's Amlin Challenge Cup final the night before. Dublin has never previously staged the Amlin Challenge Cup final, but it has hosted the Heineken showpiece on two previous occasions -- in 1999 and 2003.
"The decision of the ERC (European Rugby Cup) board to stage both the Heineken Cup and the Amlin Challenge Cup finals in Dublin reflects the hugely positive impact Irish clubs have had," said ERC chief executive Derek McGrath said yesterday.
CONNACHT'S Mike McCarthy is available for Ireland's tour of New Zealand having been cleared of any wrong-doing in the Pro12 clash with Glasgow on May 5.
McCarthy was cited for allegedly making contact with the eye area of Warriors forward Tom Ryder but after hearing evidence from both players yesterday, the Pro12 disciplinary committee deemed that the second-row had no case to answer.
FORMER Leinster coach Michael Cheika will not be coaching French giants Stade Français next season, after it was confirmed that he would not be offered an extension of his two-year contract.
