Castletroy hang on

Castletroy College caused an upset at Annacotty after doing all their scoring in the first half and withstanding a late rally from Crescent in an entertaining game.

It looked destined for extra- time when Crescent scored a spectacular try five minutes from the end. They launched a sweeping move from their own 10-metre line which culminated with winger Gary O'Sullivan touching down.

However, Calvin Nash failed to convert and had earlier missed with a penalty chance which would have given his side the lead after 10 minutes.

Castletroy went in front with a penalty by Conor Linehan instead and when Niall O'Shea got in for a try after 34 minutes, Linehan converted to leave his side 10-0 clear.

Nash hauled Crescent back into the game with a penalty, before Linehan was off target with his penalty attempt. Then came the late Crescent try, which ultimately proved in vain.
