Butler honoured for his efforts in Tramore RFC

The Ballyseedy Home & Garden Volunteer of the Month for March was awarded to Tramore RFC all-rounder Stephen Butler for his continued involvement in several aspects of the Waterford club.

Stephen fulfils three different roles including coach, PRO and secretary, while also finding the time to referee at blitz tournaments.

On receiving his award, Stephen said: "I was flattered and honoured to be even nominated for the award.

"I got involved in coaching during my first season at the club and in my second season I ended up as secretary but always remained in coaching with my son going through the age-groups."

 

Clare U-17s prevail against Cork Red to clinch Inter-County glory

Clare U-17 defeated Cork Red in the final of the inaugural U-17 Inter-County Competition at CIT last weekend.

Tyrone Elliott’s squad overcame Kerry and Cork White in previous rounds to book their place in the final after securing four wins from four on day one of the competition.

Six teams from across the province participated in the enthralling two-day event, with Cork, Tipperary, Clare, Waterford and Kerry represented

 

Skibbereen and Bandon crowned All-Ireland club champions

U-16 and U-18 Bank of Ireland Munster Cup winners, Bandon RFC and Skibbereen RFC, were crowned All Ireland Club champions at Mullingar RFC last weekend.

Bandon defeated U-16 Leinster champions Gorey RFC 27-16 as Skibbereen shared the spoils with U-18 Leinster champions Navan RFC following a 10-10 draw in the final.

Navan led 7-0 at half-time with a converted try but Skibbereen drew level minutes in to the second half with an Adam O’Regan
