Brave Irish fall short

Ireland u-19 8 Australian Schools 14

Australia Schools adapted well to the unfamiliar wind and rain at Ravenhill to overcome some stout Irish resistance.

Australia, who lost 27-17 to Leinster on Wednesday and travel to Munster for their final game of their tour tomorrow afternoon, took an early lead with a penalty from Andrew Deegan.

Ireland struck back to equalise two minutes later with a penalty from out-half Ross Byrne, who kicked accurately from hand all afternoon.

After a sustained spell of pressure on the Australian line, the hosts went in front when No 8 Lorcan Dow crashed over, and it remained 8-3 at the break.

Two minutes into the second period, the visitors drew level with a try from scrum-half James Tuttle.

In the final quarter Australia began to dominate. Deegan's penalty put them ahead, and the out-half sealed victory with the last kick of the game.
