Giving away Kidney's secrets a site to behold
TOUCHLINES has been always quick to berate the IRFU for their shoddy website in the past -- especially the statistical information, which used to be about as reliable as a Department of Finance briefing.
But the whole place has spruced itself up and it is now turning into a breaking news service too. Imagine our surprise yesterday morning -- at approximately 10.22 if any nerds want to examine our laptops -- when we discovered this headline: 'Ireland Team To Play South Africa.'
And there it was. Luke Fitzgerald's return. Eoin Reddan's securing of the scrum-half's jumper. 'The Bull' dropped like a stone. As the rain cascaded down in Touchlines towers, we suddenly wondered, why bother trekking to the Aviva to hear Declan Kidney read out the names already peering back at us via our laptop screens?
And it's not exactly brilliant news for their sponsors either, hot on the heels of that ticketing farce, to have Kidney's supposed secrets transmitted globally well before its time.
Or does it really matter? After all, yesterday morning's Irish Independent, as is its regular wont, also correctly anticipated this Saturday's line-up. Why wait until 10.22?
