Ashbourne well 'liked' as 'followers' flock to Clontarf
Social Media is an ever evolving way of getting instant news from across the globe and at Leinster Rugby we have been encouraging clubs to engage with their supporter base through the various social media platforms. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...all brilliant tools to inform your members and at little or no cost!
With this in mind, we at Leinster HQ have decided to compile a Social Media League table to highlight just how well clubs are doing at updating their members and supporters on the latest news, photos, fixtures and results from their club.
In December just gone, we compiled a list of how many likes on Facebook and followers on Twitter each club had, we then went out into the clubs and hosted provincial seminars to educate club PROs about the benefits of social media.
The biggest increase in numbers since December have been by Ashbourne RFC who grew from 1,315 to 3,502 likes on Facebook, with Enniscorthy RFC close behind with an impressive growth of 288 to 1,796.
On the Twitter side of things Clontarf RFC, fresh from toppling the Barbarians in the Battle of Clontarf, have increased their followers from 2,319 to 3,266, with Terenure RFC in close second attracting an increase of 1,820 to 2,318 followers.
For the team at HQ, Leinster Rugby's very own Twitter and Facebook accounts are one of the best ways for us to stay in touch with fans and give them instant access to all our breaking news. With our Twitter account having over 96,000 followers and our Facebook over 124,500 likes, it shows that social media works and is something all teams should be a part of #OurClubOurProvince.
Note: all social media figures were measured on May 15, 2014.
