Ashbourne RFC has been busily working on its latest development project which culminates in the opening of a full-size World Rugby-approved 4G playing pitch.

The club has expanded its grounds by 2.5 acres and it now boasts four full-size pitches, all floodlit.

The opening will take place on Sunday at 1.0 with the presidents of the Leinster Branch, Robert McDermott, and the IRFU, Martin O'Sullivan, in attendance to assist club president Pat Rooney with the opening duties.

Everybody is welcome and we would be delighted to see you all.

After the opening, the club has its annual family day, which is sure to provide plenty of entertainment for young and old.

Attractions include a jumbo straw maze and a novelty obstacle course.

Those in attendance can test out the bungee run or rodeo bull and of course get your opportunity to drop the Ashbourne coach in the water dunk tank.

For younger people there are bouncy castles, face painting, pony rides, and special guests Mr Tayto and Leo the Lion will be there to join in the fun.

With a DJ playing the latest tunes, cake sale, ½ price club merchandise, food and drink and all the fun of the fare, it's sure to be a day to remember!
