Another Irish victory on 'Tarf's turf
The Vikings had their chance 1,000 years ago – and yesterday evening it was the turn of the Barbarians to storm Irish defences at Clontarf. Fortunately, it was only pride and a rugby match at stake in a showdown arranged to celebrate the millennium of the Battle of Clontarf. As in times of yore, the invaders were repelled, with Clontarf's Michael McGrath racing clear here to score a try in the thrilling 43-42 win. Match report: Sport, page 53.
