WATCH: ‘I’m not bothered’ - Michael Conlan reacts to potential boxing disciplines
Irish boxer Michael Conlan said he’s “not bothered” by potential AIBA disciplines as he returned home from Rio today.
Conlon was one of the 45 members of the Irish Olympic team that arrived in Dublin Airport on Wednesday evening.
“I’m not too sure what they’re going to do. It doesn’t bother me. They can do what they want and say what they want but how can they discipline me after more or less admitting what they done was wrong,” Conlon said.
He said it’s disappointing that his young daughter was grabbing at microphones “instead of a medal”.
Conlon who was joined by his family at Dublin Airport said the ticket allegations didn’t affect him in Rio.
“It didn’t put a damper on me, I was with my family. I was more worried about what was going on in my sport and how corrupt it was becoming. Boxing maybe shouldn’t be in the Olympics anymore with how much corruption was going on there.”
