Year one

With Duke Of Marmalade (left) delivering the newly ratified partnership a first Group One as early as April, things couldn't have got off to a better start, and there was to be no let up, as Ballydoyle sent out a then record 23 Group One winners, with Murtagh partnering 17 of those.

Year two

Not quite as glorious as year one, with Sea The Stars stealing the limelight, but O'Brien and Murtagh recorded eight top-level successes together, including Yeats' record-breaking fourth Ascot Gold Cup (left), while Murtagh finished the season as champion jockey for the first time in 11 years.

Year three

On the surface, a fine campaign, with the pair's 11 shared Group Ones including some great triumphs both at home and abroad - including the win of Cape Blanco (left) in the Irish Derby - but cracks in the relationship have been apparent since July, culminating in Murtagh's statement on Monday confirming he will not be renewing his contract.
