Indian fans have joked that their cricketers should lose to Ireland in their next Pool B fixture just to ensure Pakistan do not progress to the knock-out stages.

After Pakistan's shock win over South Africa and Ireland's five-run  defeat of Zimbabwe today, it looks like it will be a winner takes all when the sides meet in the final game of the group on Sunday week.

Ireland currently sit on six points, level with South Africa Pakistan who have played a game more. India currently lead the way with four wins from four and they will be the next opponents for the Boys in Green on Tuesday.

Such is the rivalry with Pakistan, some have suggested that an Irish victory would be welcomed in order to ensure Waqar Younis' side fail to make the last eight.

"We should lose to Ireland just to troll Pakistan," tweeted one Indian supporter.

"If we want to kick out Pakistan Ireland should win," added another.
