Watch: Phil Taylor in tense foul-mouthed tirade at Sky Sports presenter
Phil Taylor was involved in a tense showdown on live TV last night following his victory over Kim Huybrechts to qualify for the quarter-final of the World Darts Championship.
Taylor fought off a mini revival from Huybrechts to secure a 4-2 success over the 13th seed and afterwards the 56-year-old took exception to the line of questioning from Sky Sports pundit Wayne Mardle.
Mardle asked Taylor about previous opponent Kevin Painter, who Taylor beat 4-0 on Thursday - to which the Power responded: "'Of all people you should not ask me a question like that. Because you are going to put me in the s***ter."
Following Taylor's post-match interview with Sky, he entered the media room - where Mardle was present - and continued to query his questioning.
"He's asking me something that he already knows," added Taylor.
"Why ask a question about Kevin when I've just played Kim Huybrechts? I think that's totally wrong.
"Let's say Manchester United played Chelsea. Would you go to Jose Mourinho, 'You've just beat Chelsea, but last match you played Leicester...' You wouldn't, so why bother?
"Do you know what I mean? You're asking questions that you shouldn't be asking. Does that make sense?
"You've just beat Mike Tyson, you're Lennox Lewis. 'Well the last match you beat such and such...' They would be like, 'What the eff are you going on about here?' It doesn't make sense. It threw me."
Taylor will play Raymond van Barneveld in the quarter-final.
