Video: UFC champion Jose Aldo praises Irish public, but is not a fan of our weather Newsdesk Newsdesk

The much-hyped world UFC media tour involving Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor came to an end last Tuesday and back in his native Brazil, Aldo has praised the Irish public.

The high profile pair didn't exactly see eye to eye in Dublin last week and the supporters in the Convention Centre didn't hold back when it came to lending their support for McGregor ahead of the title showdown in July.

However Aldo says that he understands why the crowd were against him and even praised the "normal" people he met on the street.

"About the fans?" he replied when asked about the Irish public and his hostile reception. "I already knew they would support him (McGregor), like the fans were on my side in Brazil, but I walked in the streets and spoke with normal people and thought they were very warm and receptive.

"I was happy about it - not his fans, obviously."

The only negative the Brazilian could find with his visit to the Emerald Isle was the weather.

"Ireland was really cold and windy, so that was bad."

Aldo said that he was happy to get the media obligations out of the way and while there were positives, there were many issues to contend with, and not just the constant travelling.

"The bad side of it is that I had to see him all the time," he admitted.
