There was an emotional win for Cathal Daniels (22) in the Connolly's Red Mills U25 3-Star at Tattersalls International Horse Trials yesterday where Elizabeth Power and Sam Watson produced the best Irish results in the feature 4-Star classes.

Holding first and second places overnight, Galway-born Daniels steered the nine-year-old mare LEB Lias Jewel to a clear showjumping round to move into pole position after his leading ride, OLS King Aragon, dropped to sixth with a pole down.

Power (34) finished fourth in the Irish Field CCI 4-Star L.

Watson (33) steered Tullabeg Flamenco into fourth in the George Mernagh Memorial CCI 4-Star.

On Saturday Daniel Coyle and Cita won the Thunderbird Cup at the 5-Star show in Langley, Canada while at the 3-Star in Tryon, North Carolina, David Blake and Keoki were runners-up in the $132,000 Ingles Grand Prix.

On Friday night Richard Howley, Trevor Breen, Alex Duffy and Greg Broderick finished third in the Nations Cup at Lisbon which was won by the hosts from Portugal.
