Unhappy new year

January 27: Segregation

Whether lost in translation or not, there are calls for segregation to be introduced to the GAA following the Derrytresk--Dromid Pearses brawl at Portlaoise which resulted in mass suspensions and hefty fines.

January 31: Transfers

Days after Shane Supple said he was contacted by Kildare about a potential transfer, Cavan refuse to sanction a move for Seanie Johnston to the Lilywhites and openly question claims that he is living in Straffan.

February 6: Breaking point

Hurling is dealt a massive blow as Lar Corbett withdraws from the Tipperary squad, while John Mullane takes six weeks out of the Waterford camp.

February 9 and 10: Losing the plot

Derrytresk blame the southern media for losing the All-Ireland club JFC final by a point . . . Donegal manager Jim McGuinness and Kevin Cassidy, blood brothers only a few months ago, stand just feet apart but can't look each other in the eye at Ballybofey.

February 11: The next step
