Ireland made it two from two in the Cricket World Cup with a brilliant victory over the UAE and messages of goodwill have been flooding in for the victorious boys in green.

Gary Wilson and Kevin O'Brien struck brisk half-centuries as Ireland held their nerve to clinch a thrilling two-wicket victory in their World Cup Pool B match and various public figures have been quick to congratulate the team on another stunning performance.

"Came out of an important Ministerial meeting with PR & Irish Govt Ministers Flanagan & Sherlock to learn that @Irelandcricket won.#thrilled," Martin McGuinness tweeted.

Comedian Dara O'Briain, who had been tweeting during the game, also praised the team with an English reference thrown in for good measure.

"Ireland beat the UAE. Prince something, the staff of that Waterpark, that island shaped like a map, your boys took a hell of a beating," he posted on his account.
