Marion Bartoli admits to fearing for her life after blaming weight loss on mystery virus Newsdesk Newsdesk

Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli was yesterday withdrawn from an invitational doubles contest at the All England Club for health reasons after being assessed by a doctor.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Bartoli was furious at the decision but refused to comment on the reasons for her withdrawal.

A statement from the All England Club read:

"Marion Bartoli is replaced in the Ladies' Invitation Doubles Event (medical)."

Despite not being able to compete, she still did some analysis work for television throughout yesterday.

The former French tennis star, who won Wimbledon in 2013, retired thereafter, and has since dropped 20 kilos.

Many commented on her gaunt appearance when she arrived at the French Open last month to do some TV work.
