Star status still vital

FORTY years after the launch of the All Stars scheme and with its status remaining as important as ever for GAA players, the latest tour has taken the hurlers to San Francisco where they will play an exhibition game tomorrow.

Featuring the 2010 and 2011 teams, plus replacements where there are overlaps, the game will provide a major focal point for the GAA on America's west coast.

Sponsored by Opel, this will be the second time in four seasons that the All Stars have visited San Francisco as the footballers played there in 2008.
