Schools Basketball: Leneghan stars again

Just 24 hours after collecting an All-Ireland schools senior soccer medal, Christ The King's Kate Leneghan picked up the 'MVP' award as she scored 18 points and added a basketball All-Ireland to her collection.

The Cork school returned to Tallaght for the second successive day and left with more silverware, this time the U-16 'B' All- Ireland league title after beating Mercy, Coolock.

Three points behind going into the final quarter, Leneghan and Hannah McCarthy pulled their side through to win 45-37.

An inspiring all-round performance from Laois' Clonaslee College saw them crowned All-Ireland U-16 'C' girls schools league champions after their 47-21 win over Aquinas Grammar School, with Laura Hogan scoring 19 points.

It was a mixed day for Abbey Grammar, Newry as Aaron Miller impressed in the U-16 'C' title game to beat Clonmel's CBS High School 55-37. But the U-19 'C' team came up short against Colaiste Chriost Ri (51-48), with Kevin Garcia proving key with 20 points.
