Sanita Puspure has finished just outside the medal positions in the final of the women's single sculls at the World Championships in Florida.

The Irish women left herself with too much to do in the early stages of the race and despite a strong finish, she came in just behind Austria's Magdalena Lobnig who took the bronze medal.

Jeannine Gmelin of Switzerland scooped the gold while Britain's Victoria Thornley claimed silver.
