Runners in capital spoiled for choice

Runners in Dublin have two events to choose from tonight -- the Bloomsday Beach Run, or the Business Houses Athletic Association's annual Trinity Track Races which get under way in College Park at 7.0.

Anyone entering late for the Bloomsday Beach Run, a scenic 5k walk, jog or run event on Sandymount Strand organised by Crusaders AC at 7.30, can avail of a €5 discount off the late entry fee of €20 by bringing a copy of today's Irish Independent Up and Running page.

Late registration and number pick-up for the event, which is supported by the Aviva Stadium, will be at the race start on Sandymount Strand.

There will also be a series of children's races (up to 14 years) and entry for these events is €5.

There are souvenir T-shirts for the first 500 to register for the open 5k Beach Run which starts at the Sean Moore Park end of Sandymount Strand. More details on bloomsdaybeach run.com or call 087 203 4458.

There is a big entry too expected for tomorrow night's BRAVEHEART 5k Trail Run in Trim.

This novel event starts at 8.0 (late registration from 6.0) from Porchfields, close to Trim Castle. This event comes with a great reputation.
