Reid finds higher gear to secure promising eighth spot in Yokohama

IRELAND'S Aileen Reid (nee Morrison) showed she's starting to find top form again by finishing eighth in the Yokohama leg of the World Triathlon Series, which moved her up to ninth place overall after three races.

Reid exited the 1500m swim in seventh to make the lead pack on the bike and was in the top 16 going into the second transition.

Reid's British training partner Jodie Stimpson and Aussie Olympian Emma Moffatt pushed the early pace on the third leg, but Gwen Jorgensen of the USA overtook them to finish the run in 32:44 and win her second race in the series, with Moffatt second and Stimpson third. But Reid, by clocking 34:32, bettered her 14th place last year and showed she's returning to top form.

Bryan Keane, who became the first Irishman to make a World Series podium this year, put his 27th place down to "a bad day at the office."
